Dinner at Geranium

Greg and I are not posh people.  However, there is one posh thing we love to do, and that is go to a blow-out degustation dinner every so often.

This time, it was at Geranium in Copenhagen.  Now, truth be said, we tried to get into Noma but bookings for the whole month of May filled up in 20 minutes and we missed out.  So, the next best option was Geranium, which is Copenhagen's second best restaurant, and the 45th best restaurant in the world, with 2 Michelin stars and one of the world's best chefs.

We stayed in a shitty hostel in Copenhagen just so we could go out and have dinner at Geranium, and I am not exaggerating when I say that the dinner was more expensive than our accommodation for the week!

We had the degustation with the juice pairing, and the menu looked like this:

So, just to be clear we had EVERYTHING on the menu (yep, 21 mini courses) and all the juices.

Unfortunately I'm no food photographer so these photos don't in any way convey the incredible colours, flavours or theatrics that went into serving each dish.  But they at least give you a bit of an idea.

What was really incredible was that we were invited into the kitchen to watch the chefs at work, whilst we sat and ate our Elderflower Soda dessert.  It was amazing (and slightly intimidating!).

Branches of Sea Salted Cheese
Baked Potato
Celeriac Chips with Seaweed Salt
Scallop, Juniper & Red Elements
Artichoke Chips
Frozen Herb Tea & White Chocolate
